Homemade Sugar Scrub

I got inspired to make my own sugar scrub the other day and I was amazed at how easy it was…so I thought I’d share!

First, like most of my projects start, I googled it. There are about a million different sites and recipes to choose from, so I used a combination of a few different ones.

I’ve heard that you can use almost any type of cooking or natural oil for scrubs, but I opted for Grapeseed Oil- 1. at the fear of smelling like a vinagarette and 2. because I love grapes, so I figured it was safe. I found the Grapeseed Oil at the grocery store in the Italian section with all the other specialty oils. You can also use Almond Oil and Coconut Oil, to name a few.

Once I found my oil, I decided on using a mixture of white and brown sugar for the actual scrub. For the scent I used lavender essential oils which I found at Martins (grocery store) in the organic section. I’m sure any Whole Foods or Wegmans would have the same.

I combined all my ingredients and didn’t really measure…but I read that you should use 2 parts sugar to 1 part oil. I used 7 drops of lavender oil, but again, there is no right or wrong…it’s just a matter of preference (right Bev?!…my friend Beverly is famous for always using the term “it’s just preference”:))

And that’s that…you have a custom sugar scrub! Put that baby in the shower and scrub-a-dub-dub! My favorite thing to do is to use a scrub after I shave my legs! It makes your legs SOO silky!!

This would be a great idea for bridal shower gifts, party favors, or a “just because” project for the summer.

Enjoy!!

I love this color!

Happy Tuesday!
