Moon Bounces & a Sneak Peek

This weekend was wonderful! We celebrated Buddy’s birthday with family and friends and man do I love a good cookout!

Buddy’s the kind of guy that likes birthdays, but he doesn’t necessarily want anything over-the-top. He’s happy with keeping things very low-key.  I, on the other hand, LOVE birthdays and want to make a big deal out of it. Come on…it’s your Birthday!!! It only comes once a year!

So even though he doesn’t get super excited by birthdays, little by little I’m seeing progress in his birthday excitement…give him a few more years and he’ll be ordering moon bounces and balloon artists!:)…kidding, of course.

On another note, I shot an engagement session for this awesome couple, Brad and Emily. We had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to share more from their session…

Happy Monday!!!

Happy Birthday to my Husband

He knows me best. He can read my mood in an instant and he understands what I’m saying even when it makes no sense. He challenges me, he makes me laugh, and he loves me!

He is my best friend and the irony is, that he’s my gift on HIS birthday!

Buddy, I feel so blessed to have spent another year with you and I pray that this year will be even better than the last!

Happy birthday love!!!

DIY Pom-Poms | Wedding Inspiration

You know those cute little poof-ball-pom-pom-hanging-things you see at weddings and parties? Well a few months back while I was working on the Berry & Whim shoot, I decided to make my own that didn’t require buying ten million packs of tissue paper and pipe cleaners. I found that you can get the same look by using COFFEE filters! That’s right, coffee filters from the dollar store!

And since it is the season for birthdays, cookouts, baby showers, bridal showers, and weddings, I thought I might offer a little decoration inspiration!

This is what you’ll need:

  • Styrofoam balls (any size)
  • Coffee filters
  • floral pins
  • string or fishing wire
  • food coloring (optional)

Because coffee filters are really just round-cut tissue paper, you can easily use food coloring to dye them. Here’s an example of just the edges dyed, but if you soak and dry the entire thing, you can create any color you want!
I didn’t want my pom-poms to look obviously like coffee filters with the ridges……so I crinkled and smoothed the coffee filters. As long as you don’t crinkle them too much, this also helps the pom-pom hold its shape better.Next, you gather the paper and put a floral pin in the center. You can even double or triple the coffee filters depending on how dense you want the pom-pom to be. Continue this process until the whole ball is filled. Use string or fishing line to attach them where ever you’d like… And ta-da!
This project was super easy, fast, and inexpensive, so go ahead, make some pom-pom-poof-balls for your next shindig!

Happy Tuesday!

Great idea!!! I’ve used tissue paper before but this is a great alternative!
